On Acklins & Crooked Island, you can choose to relax in the tranquil seaside atmosphere at one of the hotel lounges, but just about every town has a lively nightspot where you can hang out with the locals. They offer a number of ways to show your competitive spirit—in a game of cards, dominoes, Connect Four and other board games, or playing pool at some of the bars. Dance the night away to DJ music, a jukebox or piped music. Some bars and clubs occasionally have live performances by the local Rake & Scrape band on weekends, for special celebrations and on national holidays. Entertainment by local and national bands is usually featured at the annual community fairs and homecomings, and major events like the Acklins Island Regatta and Independence Day celebrations in July. A "Singspiration" is held during the Emancipation Day celebrations in August. Bahamian music greats associated with these islands: Crooked Island—the late Cyril “Dry Bread” Ferguson and Fred Ferguson; Acklins—"King" Eric Gibson (King Eric & His Knights), Rupert Cox (Rupert & The Rolling Coins) and “King” Errisson Johnson.
