Overview
With a history dating as far back as the 1780s, a few residents of Hope Town thought it was important to establish a museum to preserve the past and educate the young and about their origins. The entire community worked on the project and in March 1978 the museum was official opened and named after the town's founder, Wyannie Malone, who settled here from South Carolina. Presently on display are manuscripts, photographs, artifacts, pottery and china received from ship wrecks, plus household antiques. The museum continues to play a significant role in the community, and every year during the month of March, it sponsors Heritage Day which highlights events of the past through skits, songs and games.
