Remote Castle Island, off the southernmost tip of Acklins, has a conspicuous 1867 lighthouse once used as the retreat of pirates who attacked ships in the nearby passage. The lighthouse is approximately five miles away from the main settlement of Salina Point. A boat is required to get to the island. Sailors might also want to check out the Mira Por islets and the Samana Cays.
