Overview
Located in south central New Providence, the Harold and Wilson Ponds National Park was established in 2002 for the protection of freshwater wetlands, bird nesting and feeding areas, and the pine forest. It encompasses 250 acres and once completed this park will be The Bahamas' first Watchable Wildlife Pond inclusive of a public boardwalk, walking trail and observation decks. Over 100 bird species can be found within this park, including the island's largest rookery of herons, egrets and cormorants on New Providence Island. The globally endangered Bahama Swallow has also been sited in this wetland area. Other birds that may be found at the pond include White Ibis,Glossy Ibis, least grebe, and Ospreys.
