Da Flat is named for the fishing flats that it sits between the ocean on one side and the wetlands on the other and offers a quiet, relaxing beach experience that is perfect for the entire family. Nature lovers and those looking for seclusion will enjoy the setting, which evokes the feeling of being on a remote Out Island, yet is only minutes away from cosmopolitan Nassau and Paradise Island. The owners have used a variety of natural materials to lovingly create all types of rustic pieces, which are strategically placed, adding to the charm and complementing the natural environment. There are also several outbuildings that evolved from recycled everyday items, including an old church bus. You can explore the wetlands to bird watch and see other indigenous fauna and flora; fly fish in the adjacent flats or the ocean; sunbathe or go shelling on the beach; take a snooze or read a book in the hammock; snorkel in shallow water right off the beach; or if you prefer to be more active, you can go bike riding on the nature trails or kayak to one of the small offshore islands. The grounds also offer climbing apparatuses and other energy-burning opportunities for the children to indulge in, without having to be concerned about their safety. A limited number of beach chairs, binoculars, fishing rods, towels, snorkel masks, bicycles and single kayaks are available for rental. The beach experience is available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It includes round-trip transportation, a light lunch of chicken, salad, fruits and a soft drink (with roasted fresh corn in season and coconut water available for purchase). Pick-up from your hotel is at 10:00 a.m. (maximum 12 persons) and departure from the beach is at 4:00 p.m. Da Flat can also be reserved for camping trips, family gatherings, parties, retreats, weddings and small meetings upon request; rates are negotiable.
