Together with Salt Cay in the north, this is one of the two main access points from the ocean into Ragged Island. Cannons were once located here to guard the harbor, but have since been removed by salvagers. The weekly mailboat docks here and it also serves as primary anchorage on the mainland for yachts.Flocks of seagulls make their home here; you can see Hog Cay to the southeast and get a glimpse of Pigeon Cay in the distance.A base is being developed here for the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, which would guard the entrance to the Great Bahama Bank, one of the country's richest fishing grounds.
