The Grand Bahama Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered by 14 visionaries on April 18, 2009: RASHAN BROOKS CHERVITA CAMPBELL ABIGAIL DAVIS LIN GLINTON BERGIT GODET WILLETTE INGRAHAM JANIKA JOHNSON SHAVONNA LAING GENEA NOEL SHERY POITIER TAMALA RIGBY-SIMMONS SHASHEENA ROLLE DENISE SHERMAN MAVIS WARD Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc is the largest predominantly black sorority in the world, boasting over two hundred and fifty thousand members. It is a non-profit organization whose five point programmatic thrust includes: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement. Membership in Delta Sigma Theta is open to any woman who meets the membership requirements, regardless of race, nationality, or religion. Women may join through collegiate chapters at a college or university, or after acquiring a college degree through an alumnae chapter.
