The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) was created by an Act of Parliament in 1959 to build and manage the national park system of The Bahamas. There are currently 27 National Parks managed by BNT with more than 1 million acres of marine and terrestrial areas protected. BNT works daily to conserve and protect the natural resources of The Bahamas, through stewardship and education for present and future generations.

On Abaco there are six (6) national parks, which are:
Walker's Cay National Park
Black Sound Cay National Reserve
Tiloo Cay Reserve
Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park
Abaco National Park
Fowl Cays National Park
