Moxeys Crafts

Mr. Moxey specializes in woodcarving and shell craft, including items comprised of both wood and shells. He has also built racing sloops for much of his life, a talent he inherited from his great grandfather, James Moxey, whom he said was descended from Cuba and founded the town originally known as Moxey Town. Ralph Moxey organized and sponsored the first sailboat race for The Bahamas Independence Celebrations in 1973 and has won numerous awards for racing in and exhibiting at numerous regattas. His love of boats is still reflected today in the miniatures that he lovingly crafts out of local woods like Andros Mahogany and Sapodilla. Another of his interests is medicinal plants and he can spend hours regaling you with the healing qualities of leaves from local plants, including the Noni, Naked Wood, etc.
