January is the longest year in the year (get it?). Maybe that was grossly exaggerated but it sure feels like it. We know first hand that by a certain date in January, every day felt the same and because of this we understand that you may have missed some important highlights. We've taken the liberty of rounding up the stories you may have missed.

Hotels Update:

Baha Mar: Fi’lia opened to the public on January 12. It features 202 seats —indoor and outdoor seating —and is one of six culinary and entertainment venues to open at Baha Mar, joining Cleo, Katsuya, Monkey Bar, Bungalow Pool Bar & Grill, Bond as well as sbe’s first international SLS hotel. Fi’lia is inspired by the simplicity of Italian cuisine, featuring a menu of straightforward dishes that highlight fresh, seasonal ingredients, housemade pasta and memorable signatures like the Tableside Caesar Salad.

The Current: The Current opened with RE:1 (Residency Exhibition) on January 12 with a two-hour show at the Current Gallery at Baha Mar. The Current is marketed as a collection of contemporary art but its presence serves as a hub for creative Bahamian art experiences. It's open to the public and has a great residency program along with authentic art programs.

RIU: RIU Paradise Island that you may remember is no more. In an effort to change the brand image after its renovations in November, the RIU Paradise Island became a luxury Adults-Only resort.

The Cove at Atlantis: The Cove has gotten a new paint job and it's better than ever. The hotel has released a new marketing initiative which connects local artists and islands with the resort giving the hotel a more colorful yet local flavor. Harbour Island's super chic restaurant "Sip Sip" has also taken residence on the property, along with selected pieces by foremost Bahamian artist Antonius Roberts.

The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort: Four Seasons has acquired the Kerzner-managed One and Only Ocean Club. The resort has officially rebranded as The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort.

New Properties:

The Pointe - It was recently announced that Margaritaville Beach Resort will be opening at the Pointe in mid-2019. This resort will join recently opened Jetline Simulations and exquisite jewelers Alex Fraga.
