Andros' Signature Dish - Crab 'N' Rice

Andros is known for artistic culinary delights created from the abundant local delicacy found there—the land crab. Locals believe that no one anywhere else prepares crab and rice, crab and dough, crab fritters or crab patties like Androsians, and the annual All Andros Crab Fest demonstrates that. There is always a line where the crab delicacies are being served and patrons keep coming back for more. Fine dining on Andros is about savoring exquisite cuisine by culinary masterminds who add their own personal touch to traditional Bahamian recipes. Most restaurants are located at hotels and lodges and offer a mixture of spicy Bahamian and American cuisine with an obvious emphasis on seafood, especially conch. A few roadside restaurants and bars offer all the mouth-watering local dishes, including conch salad, grilled lobster and fried fish with peas and rice, topped off with some unleaded or leaded coconut water, commonly known as “sky juice.”
