Holy Saviour Roman Catholic Church, Cockburn Town, San Salvador, The Bahamas

This church was dedicated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of The Bahamas in 1992, on the eve of the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' landfall on San Salvador. It is said that the first religious service to be held in San Salvador was by a Roman Catholic priest named Father Chrysostom Schreiner on January 25, 1891. After being saved from a shipwreck by the people of the island, he vowed to devote the rest of his life to them.

In the catholic cemetery, located at Bamboo Point, there is also a wooden cross in a cement base that commemorates the event.

Services are held on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.
