At this site you will find the remains of a shipwrecked barge that was transporting a steam locomotive. It was caught in a violent storm and sunk in 1865 at the Devil's Backbone off North Eleuthera. It lies in 15 to 25 feet of water and the only recognizable parts are some wheels, wheel trucks, a boiler plate assembly from the train, many brass spikes, coal, and the original ballast stone from the barge.
