Bahamian cuisine, particularly fresh seafood, dominates menus in the restaurants of Eleuthera, Harbour Island, and Spanish Wells, followed by American and Continental cuisine. Most of the fine-dining options are at hotels and resorts on Harbour Island—on the Eleuthera mainland, at The Cove. Each township has at least one casual-dining restaurant, and there are a number of takeaways offering Bahamian dishes. Stop at the weekly Fish Fry in Governor’s Harbour year-round, or you can sample all of the local favorites at roadside cookouts held in many of the towns on Saturdays and national holidays. Culinary tours give you a taste of homegrown favorites: Bahamian lobster, pineapples and locally made food products.
