Conception Island was established in 1964 as one of the National Parks of The Bahamas. The park consists of 25,173 acres.It is an important sanctuary for migratory birds, nesting sea birds and green turtles, in addition to a rookery for nesting seabirds and a hatching site for green turtles.

This beautiful, quiet beach sits in a small lagoon across the street from the Ocean View Restaurant & Bar. It has fine pink sand and is great for beachcombing, sunbathing or picnicking under the thatched-roof cabanas provided by the restaurant.

The 101-gun HMS Conqueror, Britain's first propeller driven warship, was built in Devon in 1855 and served in the Crimean War. She was lost on Sumner Point Reef, Rum Cay, on December 13, 1861.
