As a lifelong fisherman and native of Ragged Island, I know all of the best places for whatever kind of catch you want. There is great bonefishing on the west side of the mainland and the cays.
Located near the airport, Blackbeard's Bay is accessible mainly by boat. It is great for beach-combing and locals go there to collect raw material for their handicraft, i.e. seashells, sea glass, and leaves used to make straw items.
It is said that the pirate Blackbeard may have established his headquarters near this well because of its unique location: On a hill that looks over nearly the entire island.

These salt ponds are remnants of the thriving salt industry that formerly existed on Ragged Island. It was developed by Duncan Taylor and his brother Major Taylor, who came here from Long Island in the 19th Century. Salt collection today is done to a lesser degree.
