Beautiful sandy beach known for its abundance of bonefish
This monument to Columbus' landfall is located at Long Bay, was so named for Columbus' long boat which came ashore at this point. A monument placed on the floor of the ocean in Long Bay marks the exact spot where Columbus dropped anchor on October 12th, 1492.
Columbus referred to Cut Cay (the island that is not an island) in his journal. It is the small island across a shallow channel off North Point. At low tide, one can wade across to Cut Cay. Columbus believed that it would be a good site for a fortress.

Built in 1887 on a former plantation owned by John Dixon, this lighthouse is still occupied and operated by lighthouse keepers who refuel the 400,000 candle powered lighthouse by hand every 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The Driftwood Bar and Lounge at Riding Rock Inn is named for the pieces of driftwood that decorate its ceiling and walls. Starting in the late 50's and early 60's, visitors began autographing the pieces of wood they found on the beach and leaving them behind as mementos.

The Gerace Research Center, formerly the Bahamian Field Station, occupies an old U.S. Navy base at Graham's Harbour on San Salvador's northern coast. It has been in operation since 1971 as a center for academic research in the areas of Archaeology, Biology, Geology and Marine Sciences.
