Family Fun On Cat Island

Family Fun On Cat Island

You can climb up Mt. Alvernia, visit Griffin Bat Cave (once a hideout for Arawaks and slaves) and explore old churches, plantation ruins and a small museum to learn firsthand about Cat Island’s history. Of particular interest to children will be the sport of crabbing that locals engage in most evenings during the rainy season, when the crabs are said to be "walking." You can find them in bushes in most areas, but it's best to use a knowledgeable guide.
