The lack of a fitness center and massage services here doesn’t deter the locals from wellness practices. They have their own “spa” therapy, which is to lie down or sit a while in the salty sea water while meditating. They usually do it twice a day – in the morning and late afternoon. It has been a long-standing belief, passed down through the generations, that the sea salt has therapeutic properties and will heal whatever ails them. And it often does. Locals will regale you with stories of how they were “cured” of some ache they had until getting the treatment. Plus, on nights with a clear sky (which is often), persons will sit on the sand and watch the moonrise and the twinkling stars to clear their minds from the stresses of the day.
