Peter Russell, a former slave, carved this freshwater well out of solid limestone with a hammer and chisel. It is attributed with saving the lives of the people of Bimini following the hurricane of 1926. The site is only accessible by boat, following the marked trail and signage from the northern shoreline of South Bimini.
