Pigeon Creek & Snow Bay National Park

Pigeon Creek & Snow Bay National Park

This park, located in southeast San Salvador, is home to many juvenile species and is an indispensable nursery to support fisheries stocks of conch, crawfish, grouper, and other marine life. It also contains a large creek, the only tidal body of water on the island, which is truly a beauty to behold. This park creek encompasses mangroves, seagrasses, hard bottom corals and sponges and is home to the island’s main population of sea urchins. Because of the ecological importance of Pigeon Creek to the island of San Salvador, the Bahamas National Trust and the San Salvador Living Jewels bestowed National Park status on the area, so that its natural beauty would be preserved and protected.
