Southern Berry Islands Marine Reserve

This reserve is about 70 square miles in area and encompasses all or some of these cays: Crab Cay, Fowl Cay, Chub Cay, Fraziers Hog Cay, Diamond Rock, Bird Cay, Cat Cay, Big Whale Cay, Goulding Cay, Pigeon Cay, and Vigilant Cay. Several hundred acres of black and red mangrove shrub wetlands, 13 species of marine algae, two species of sea grass, and 112 species of terrestrial plants have been recorded within its boundaries.

As a protected area, it helps to replenish The Bahamas fish supply and is among the first such reserves with a formal management process, overseen by the Nature Conservancy.
