FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Makers Air Expands Airlift to Long Island and Cat Island

NASSAU, Bahamas (11 Dec. 2025) - Makers Air has expanded its scheduled routes to Long Island and Cat Island, supporting improved connectivity between South Florida and The Islands of The Bahamas.

Daily service between Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) and New Bight, Cat Island (TBI) began on 1 November 2025. Seasonal service to Stella Maris, Long Island (SML) expanded on 2 November 2025, with flights now operating three times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday through August.

The increased airlift reflects continued collaboration between The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, the Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board and Makers Air in response to traveler demand and the need for reliable regional airlift. It also supports increased access across The Bahamas’ 16-island destinations, each offering its own distinct visitor experience.

"This expansion of airlift by Makers Air is a vital step forward for our Family Islands," said The Hon. I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. "It reflects our unwavering commitment to improving connectivity and creating opportunity across all 16 of our unique island destinations. Reliable air service strengthens our tourism economy and delivers real benefits to our communities. These new routes will make it easier for visitors to discover the authentic heart of The Bahamas while supporting local growth. We welcome this partnership as it helps us share more of our country with the world."

Echoing this commitment, David Hocher, President of Makers Air, said the airline is happy to deepen its ties with The Bahamas.

“We’re thrilled to expand our service to both Long Island and Cat Island, making it easier than ever for travelers to experience the beauty and charm of these unique destinations,” said David Hocher, President of Makers Air. “These new schedules not only enhance convenience for vacationers but also provide important support for local communities by improving access and ensuring more reliable delivery of goods and supplies. It’s a win for both residents and visitors.”

Makers Air currently services 11 Islands of The Bahamas via scheduled flights: Chub Cay (CCZ), Congo Town (COX), Fresh Creek (ASD), Governor’s Harbour (GHB), Great Harbour Cay (GHC), North Eleuthera for Harbour Island (ELH), Rock Sound (RSD), San Andros (SAQ), Staniel Cay (TYM). Walker’s Cay (WKR) is a private charter only at this time.

The revised  schedule helps maintain steady regional airlift and supports travel to islands throughout The Bahamas.

Passengers traveling with Makers Air depart from the airline’s private terminal at FXE, which provides a simplified experience with no TSA lines, complimentary valet parking, expedited check-in and faster boarding. The ease of transit ensures a smooth, stress-free start to any Bahamian escape.

With added flight services to Cat Island and Long Island now available, Makers Air continues to support steady airlift throughout The Islands of The Bahamas and contributes to the overall visitor experience.

Makers Air specialises in direct, regional air service to the Out Islands of The Bahamas, connecting travelers with some of the most exclusive, pristine and hard to reach destinations across the country.
