Ohio’s Couple Dream Wedding Includes A Ceremony With Grand Bahama’s Dolphins
EUCLID, Ohio (November 18, 2014)… Nature lovers, Shametria Almond and Victor Courtney of Euclid, Ohio will never forget their unique, dream wedding and “priceless day’ ceremony when it takes place on January 16, 2015. Under the theme, ‘Enchanted Encounter’ the couple will celebrate their special moment in a one-of-a-kind, underwater ceremony, encountering dolphins.
The ceremony will take place in Grand Bahama, the nation’s second city and eco-tourist paradise. Known for its unspoiled beaches, rich heritage and romantic ambiance, Grand Bahama Island is located a mere 55 miles south east of Florida.
The couple is one of 16 winners, across the USA, who won a complimentary dream wedding in The Bahamas through the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s (BMOT) 16 Islands, 16 Weddings, One Priceless Day promotion.
The contest attracted more than 3,000 couples residing in the USA and showcased The Islands of The Bahamas as the diverse, premier destination in the region for romance – weddings, honeymoons, vow renewals and romantic escapes.
All 16 weddings will occur on 16 islands in The Bahamas on January 16, 2015 at 16:00 hours.
Victor, who works with Metro Health Hospital, said he met his bride-to-be who is a social worker, at work.
“Shametria and I, we complete each other. Our professional, personal and life aspirations are in sync. Throughout our bond, my friend became my best friend and I decided within a short time of knowing her, that one day, she would be my wife. She is everything that I want in a lifelong partner.”
A doting Shametria said, she decided that Victor was the one, after consistently demonstrating on a daily basis, his genuine concern for my well being”.
“I have never met anyone who wanted to see me so happy - and he makes me very happy. He is my protector and biggest encourager. Without him I would not have gotten through many tough times these past few years. That is how I knew he is the one.”
She recalls his proposal. “We were out and about one day. It was Christmas time and Victor said ‘hey let us go look at rings’. I did not want to look because I told him it was a teaser to try them on and not get anything.
“We ended up going into the jewelry store and I tried on a couple different rings. We ended up leaving and Victor knew what type of ring I liked but we did not get anything.
“A few months later we were at home. Victor came up to me and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was completely out of the blue and I was definitely surprised. Of course I said YES, she said.
“My mother heard about the 16 Islands, 16 Weddings, One Priceless Day” promotion, while listening to the radio and told us,” she said.
“We entered the contest on a whim, and didn’t think that we could win not with all the other entries.
“We are very blessed and lucky to have won. We are really looking forward to our big day, which we plan to celebrate, in colors of purple and silver, with 10 of our family members, friends and special Grand Bahama guests,” she said.
