The Bahamas Celebrates Porter Airlines’ Global Win Ahead Of Inaugural Flights To Nassau
NASSAU, Bahamas (13 Nov. 2025) – The Bahamas will soon welcome Porters Airlines, ranked the world’s best economy class airline by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards in November, as it launches nonstop flights to Nassau later this month.
The milestone marks another step forward in strengthening air connections between Canada and The Bahamas.
Porter Airlines claimed the coveted top spot in the 2025 USA Today 10 Best Awards, beating major carriers such as American Airlines, Air France and Turkish Airlines for the title.
The recognition, based on expert nominations and public voting, highlighted Porter’s signature blend of affordability, comfort and service, a combination USA Today described as “a hidden gem in the North American aviation industry.”
The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation first announced its partnership with Porter Airlines in June 2025, marking the introduction of new nonstop service from Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton to Nassau.
Beginning 26 November 2025, Porter Airlines will commence daily nonstop service from Toronto (YYZ) to Nassau (NAS), followed by new routes from Ottawa (YOW) on 13 December and Hamilton (YHM) on 14 December.
The routes enhance travel options between Canada and The Bahamas and strengthen connectivity in one of the destination’s most important visitor markets.
The addition of Porter Airlines supports the Ministry’s broader strategy to
expand air service across key international gateways. It also builds on the strong and growing interest from Canadian travelers, helping to convert that demand into increased arrivals and longer stays.
Operating its modern Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, Porter Airlines promises passengers an experience that blends comfort, service and value from takeoff to touchdown. Guests can look forward to the carrier’s signature perks, including complimentary wine and beer, premium Canadian snacks and no middle seats.
