What's New in The Bahamas for June

Fort Lauderdale, FL, June 1, 2019 – As the summer travel season heats up, The Islands Of The Bahamas are preparing for a busy few months. This month, The Bahamas announced new tourism products, enticing summer deals and exciting events. The Islands Of The Bahamas proved to be a must-visit destination for adventure travelers following the results of Scuba Diving Magazine’s 2019 Reader’s Choice Awards. The ForwardKeys Survey continues to show an uptick in international arrivals, a trend which The Bahamas is expected to see continue into the summer.


International Arrivals Continue to Climb – The May ForwardKeys survey, which tracks inbound visitor data, revealed that international arrivals to The Bahamas increased by 4.9% in April. Forward bookings for the next three months are 4.5% ahead for international arrivals with June ahead by 7.1%. International air capacity also increased by 17.2% in April and is expected to continue to grow in the next three months.

The Bahamas Sweeps Scuba Diving’s 2019 Reader’s Choice Awards – The Island Of The Bahamas placed in the top five of six categories in Scuba Diving Magazine’s 2019 Readers Choice Awards. The Bahamas was ranked first in the Big Animals category, second in Best Underwater Photography and third in the Best Overall Dive Destination and Best Beginning Diving categories. The Bahamas also placed fourth for Best Advanced Diving category and fifth for Best Value.

Sugar Factory Opening at Baha Mar – In the spring of 2020, Sugar Factory American Brasserie will open its first Caribbean location in Nassau at Baha Mar. The well-known restaurant will debut CandyOcean, an aquatic-themed Instagram experience in addition to the full-service café, confectionary shop, retail shop and carousel bar.

Royal Caribbean Debuts Perfect Day at CocoCay – Royal Caribbean’s private island destination in The Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay, opened to guests of Royal Caribbean this month. The $250 million development is home to the tallest waterslide in North America, a helium balloon taking visitors 450ft in the air, the Caribbean’s largest wave pool and more.

Twilight Electric Festival at Atlantis, Paradise Island (April 12 – June 23) – Featuring the cabaret show, “Showtime at the Pink Flamingo,” which will be shown every Wednesday through Sunday.
