Underwater Mystery

Paradise Island

We began our adventure with Seahorse Sailing Adventures and Captain Kendall Seymour on the beautiful deep tri-color blue seas. We sailed from the dock on Paradise Island and headed towards Athol Island. While in transit to Athol Island, Captain Seymour reduced the speed of the boat, in order for us to get a good look at some celebrity houses. There we saw the homes of Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, and Tom Cruise, just to name a few. Imagine the hit show Cribs but on the water. Only in The Bahamas.

Can I just take a moment and tell you how much I admired the crew members for their friendly and courteous service. This is what made the tour so much more comfortable. While the cool breeze blew through my hair, I lounged off with my legs stretched, and my head laid back on deck as the sun caressed my dark skin.

We finally made it to Athol Island and we were instructed to prepare for the best part of the day, snorkelling.

I had no idea what to expect but to my great surprise, I got to be a mermaid for just a day, up close and personal with nature. The only hitch in this plan was that I knew mermaids were great swimmers. I don't happen to know the first thing about swimming (which is why I had to have a floaty placed around my waist to keep me above water). Cute right?

The view of the beautiful sea animals and the coral reefs is something that you have to see for yourself. I can talk about it, but it's one of those things you need to experience first-hand.

After I geared up with my floaty, I slid into the water, ready for my adventure. Even though I was still a little scared to go into the water, I made a quick decision to face my fear and dove right in.

The sea was rough but warm. As I was fully immersed in the water and looked through the mask, I felt like I had fallen into a whole new world, full of colourful fishes and reefs.

What better way to end a day of snorkelling than by sipping island rum punch provided by the courteous staff. We glided peacefully back to the dock.

It is the perfect activity for the family, absolutely no regrets.
