The Poop Deck East Bay Street

  • Price $$ - $$$
  • Seafood, Caribbean

The Poop Deck Bar and Restaurant has been housed in the same building as the Nassau Yacht Haven since the 1950s.

Originally just a "hole in the wall" sort of place (a snack bar of sorts) the restaurant's popularity grew as the marina docks expanded. It has now become a great rendezvous spot for those seeking a fun place to tie up, socialize with other boaters, and enjoy the capital of The Bahamas.

On any given day, the persons at the table next to you could be well-known faces from Hollywood, the highest Bahamian government officials, or movers and shakers from around the world. It is certainly a place to see and be seen.

On display along the restaurant's walls is a virtual history of Who's Who throughout the decades. Countless lists of celebrities, models, professional athletes, musicians, and dignitaries are among those who have dined here and enjoyed the fresh seafood and cold drinks while admiring the yachts and boats tied up at the docks.

They have so many autographed menus and items that there isn't enough wall space to showcase them all. Exploring these walls is part of the Poop Deck experience.

Often copied now, the Poop Deck is known for its world-famous catch of the day and was one of the first restaurants to offer guests the option of selecting their own fish or lobster, and cooking it to suit their palate. Ever-changing, but always interesting, the view from here is a great accompaniment to your meal.

You can see locals bringing in their catch at the end of the day, amazing sunsets dipping into the horizon, and mega yachts anchored in the harbour.
