Cinemax HBO Latin America Is In The Bahamas Filming Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival

A TV Crew from Cinemax HBO Latin America is currently in Nassau to film a short documentary with the focus on Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival. While they were here, they interviewed Mrs. Joy Jibrilu, the Director General of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

Cinemax HBO Latin America provides all the unique and recognized HBO content with the best movies and series from the major Hollywood studios. The network has an 82% penetration reaching forty million households and 140 million viewers in the region.

While in The Bahamas the team is capturing the most relevant moments of the spectacular Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival.  Just a couple of weeks later, they will air an Exclusive capsule named “ON SITE”.  This 60 second capsule will rotate across their most relevant day parts, showing images of Carnival and confirming to Latin Americans that The Bahamas is not only beaches but also culture, fun,.food, music, and great people!

The Bahamas’ relative proximity to Latin America makes it a popular choice. American Airlines and Copa Airlines are the main airlines connecting The Bahamas to Latin America, accounting for almost 90% of total air traffic, followed by Bahamasair and JetBlue respectively. In the case of Panama, which is only two hour non-stop flight on Copa Airlines, The Bahamas, is considered easy and convenient to get to. Latin Americans also no longer require a visa to travel to The Bahamas.

As the economies of Latin American countries continue to show a trend of economic growth, The Bahamas has tailored its promotional strategy to target these markets more effectively. International travel among Latin Americans is on the increase, as more people enter the mid to higher socio-economic scale and have ready access to disposable income for travel.  Though many remain price conscious however, the Bahamas offers a range of options in accommodations and many discounts in the off-season to appeal to this growing market..

The Director General is shown above being interviewed by Daniel De Carlo Necchi, Producer of Cinemax HBO. Marcelo Bica Gobara Kohek is shown behind the camera.
