Washington Couple Plans Romantic Beach Wedding On Crooked Island

WASHINGTON, D.C.   (November 13, 2014)…  After four years of dating her handsome export compliance contractor, Rachelle Powell, a journal publisher will fulfilled her dream of getting married on the beach in The Bahamas.  The Washington, D.C., couple will wed on Crooked Island on January 16, 2015.

They are one of 16 couples who won a complimentary dream wedding in The Bahamas, in The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s  (BMOT)“16 Islands, 16 Weddings One Priceless Day” contest which showcased The Bahamas as the premier destination for romance, weddings, honeymoons and renewals.   More than 3,000 applicants entered the USA marketed promotion.  All 16 weddings, in each of the 16 islands will occur on January 16, 2015 at 16:00 hours.

Rachelle explained that she and her fiancé, George Stover lV are forever grateful to the BMOT for the opportunity to fulfill their wedding dream.

 “We were overcome with joy and enthusiasm after the disbelief wore of and we realized that we actually WON this,” she said.

“It’s always been my dream to get married on the beach. While searching for possible locations we came across the promotion and submitted our information. We never dreamed that we would be one of the winning couples!”

With a wedding theme of ‘Seashell Beauty’ and bridal colors of coral and gold, Rachelle said she “imagines exchanging vows under the warm sun in a beautiful intimate ceremony on the white sand beach’. 

According to Rachelle, the couple “met at a lunch spot we both frequented.  We would always speak in passing, until one day, I was discussing my plans to attend the Erykah Badu concert for my upcoming birthday and he informed me that he would be in attendance at the same concert and we made plans to meet there, we’ve been together ever since”.

As for the groom to be, George said, “after looking at what life would be like without Rachelle in it, I could not comprehend not sharing life’s journey together and so I proposed”.

“I traveled to Rome for work and Rachelle was able to go along. We went out to see the sights at night and on our journey, stopped to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain.  As she searched for coins I got down on one knee with ring in hand…and she said YES!”

Travelling with the couple for their nuptials will be their parents, a bridal party of four and twenty of their closest family and friends.

The couple has also started a love affair with The Bahamas.  Rachelle said, “We recently attended an event at the Embassy of The Bahamas in Washington D. C. and had a chance to mingle with the Ambassador. This is the perfect way to begin our union and we look forward to a life time of happiness and love.”

The lucky couple will receive complementary round trip airline tickets from Washington, D.C. to The Bahamas, cash rewards from MasterCard®, hotel accommodations including meals for four nights at Tranquility On The Bay Resort, a wedding ceremony, cake, flowers and reception for up to four guests.
