Beaches In The Exumas

There are thousands of miles of invitingly soft, white-sand beaches stretching along the length of the chain, cays and inlets, for relaxing or exploring by foot and by boat. The shallow, crystal-clear waters provide one of the prettiest settings for snorkeling in the entire Bahamas. On Great Exuma Island, there is Tropic of Cancer Beach, the longest one on the island and the prettiest in the chain. Others include Emerald Beach at Sandals Resort, named for the translucent emerald-green water it sits on; Three Sisters Beach is associated with a local myth; crescent-shaped Jolly Hall Beach can be reached on foot from most hotels; Coco Plum Beach is great for shelling and on Hamburger Beach you can usually join a volleyball game. Notable beaches can also be found in the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park and on cays shrouded by large expanses of mangrove.

You can find seclusion on most beaches in The Exumas and most likely you will have the beach all to yourself, particularly in the cays, to sunbathe or beachcomb.

Family Friendly

Beaches along the north coast are family friendly. Have adventures hunting shells and sand dollars at low tide on Coco Plum Beach; swim and feed the stingrays on Hamburger Beach.

Exclusive

Beaches are not private here, but some cannot be accessed without going onto private property, like Sandals and Palm Bay resorts on Great Exuma, or the private islands and cays.

Active

There are activities on Stocking Island at Hamburger Beach and Volley Ball Beach at Chat ‘N’ Chill Bar and Grill. You can play beach volleyball, do arts and crafts and enjoy water activities.
