Picnic Spots

This week, we celebrated National Picnic Day by scouting out the best picnic spots for couples to amp up date day or night. Nothing ignites a relationship like a surprise picnic with the love of your life, you’re in a relationship and you’re allowed to switch it up a bit and surprise your loved one with something special. Why not do so with a cute picnic with a picturesque view?

Here are our top picks for best places to have a picnic.

Elbow Cay Lighthouse, Hope Town, Abaco – Hope Town is the epitome of a romantic setting. In Hope Town neither golf carts nor cars are allowed in the main part of town. Modes of transportation include biking and walking, which is the perfect way to head to the spot where you and your lover can pitch a tent and enjoy each other’s company. The lighthouse is the last remaining lighthouse operated by kerosene and its candy-striped painting makes for an idyllic background for you and your partner. Throw a blanket down or even a tablecloth on one of the picnic tables and enjoy a few hours together.

Lighthouse Beach, Eleuthera – With its endless miles of unspoiled silky sand, it’s no wonder Lighthouse is considered one of the most flawless beaches in Eleuthera. Which makes it an even better place to spend National Picnic Day. This beach is nestled at the bottom of a huge rock structure behind sand dunes. What makes this beach standout from the many is the fact that you can frolic in two bodies of water concurrently, the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Grab your blanket and pitch it near one of the many hidden caves and hide out for a few hours – this one is on us.

Rose Island – Every now and again, you need a break and that’s okay. With a variety of cays to get away to, escaping is never an issue when you’re on one of The Islands Of The Bahamas. Even better when you can escape with a picnic basket, a loaf of French bread and your loved one and possibly have an entire beach to yourself! The best part is, the picnic doesn’t have to end when you’ve packed your basket; you can head right over to a hammock to spend a few more hours lying body to body with your loved one. This spot is accessible only by boat.

Big Farmer’s Cay Sand Bar, Exuma – In The Bahamas, welike to say, “Pick a beach,” and we sincerely mean it. Just for today, we’ll pick it for you though. This beach is located south of Big Farmer’s Cay and is better known as the “Mile-long Sandbar” and when we say it’s one of a kind, believe us. It extends for miles and when tide is low, you can walk out to as many sand bars as you wish! The perfect place to have a picnic is when you’re expecting one thing and it exceeds your expectation. This spot is accessible only by boat.

Gold Rock Beach – Lucayan National Park – Sometimes all we need is peace and quiet while rocking to the heartbeat of our lover. With this beach you get just that and a stunning view to go with it.  Located in Lucayan National Park, it’s not only beautiful but extremely secluded and at low tide the shoreline of the beach stretches for yards into the sea. Picnic tables are also provided for your convenience.

Have fun and Happy Picnic Day!
