The waters around Mayaguana offer excellent sports fishing and you can trawl for species like grouper, jacks, marlin, snapper, tuna and wahoo. Experienced local guides offer custom-made excursions and know the best spots where you can land the big one. Fly fishing for bonefish on the flats is akin to fishing a wilderness area and big catches are the norm. Guides enjoy stalking bonefish and watching the excitement of a hardcore or beginner angler catching that elusive creature. Conservation methods for fly fishing are practiced here, and catch and release is strictly enforced. The same flats are not used on consecutive days and there are strict maximums on the number of anglers per week. Eco-friendly boats are used and a lot of flats fishing is done by wading. You must bring your own gear for any of these activities.
