Bahamians aren’t the only residents here. The Bahama Parrot also calls this home and the West Indian Flamingo is our national bird. Visitors can enjoy close encounters with more than 300 species of resident and migrant birds that were recorded for the islands, including 28 species of Bahamian birds not seen in the U.S., Canada or Europe.
Many of our bird species are found throughout the islands. The Northern Islands (Abaco and Grand Bahama) have the highest bird diversity. Species found here include the Bahama Nuthatch, Bahama Warbler and the Olive-capped Warblers. If you are looking for our Bahamian endemics, the North and Central islands of The Bahamas have the most endemics bird species. However, Andros and Inagua are two of the best locations for Birding in The Islands Of The Bahamas. Click on the following hyperlinks to view and download maps of ANDROS BIRDING and INAGUA BIRDING.
