We visited Nassau in November 2015 and had signed up for a People-to-People host, not knowing what to expect, but found the description on the website very interesting.
It turned out to be a GREAT experience:
We got an answer VERY fast.
We got in contact with Pastor Ivan Rolle who gave us a wonderful tour around the island one the first days we were there and gave us the chance to meet a lot of wonderful people: The fishermen who dive for the conch (and they prepared a fresh conch salad for us - to die for:-) )
The young lady who made us the most refreshing Sky juice (coconut water - totally refreshing)
The family that sells art, crafts and souvenirs at the fort, who ended up giving my wife a beautiful bracelet, when they heard it was her birthday the day before + a great hug that still warms her in the cold Danish winter.
The guide at the fort, who gave us a special guided tour and the most inspired insight in the history that we have heard in a long time.
AND the many others, who all gave us the warmest welcome that you can imagine - a fantastic experience. A great day that could have been the highlight of our stay, but that was surpassed by an even better experience a couple of days later, when Mr. Rolle had invited us for dinner at his home and we were served a FANTASTIC dinner with family and friends.
What a wonderful evening - Thank you all.
The People-to-People program is a great program and we would recommend everybody to sign up for the unique chance to meet true hospitality from some lovely people at The Bahamas.
